| The female Banded Argiope reaches just over 1 inch in length. Found throughout the US, this Argiope often builds its web near houses in gardens and flower beds. A zig-zag pattern, called the stabilimentum, is usually found in the web. The purpose of this structure is unknown. This spider feeds on a variety of insects. Also known as the Yellow Garden Spider. |
