| Description: The
Wood Frog ranges in size from 1.5-3.0 inches. Coloration is usually
light brown to tan. A dark brown to black spot is found extending
back from the eye.
Habitat: Found in woodland areas with some temporary pools available for breeding. Behavior: The voice of the Wood Frog is a chuckling or quacking sound resembling a mallard duck. This is usually the first frog to breed in Kentucky, often being found beneath the ice in temporary woodland pools. |
