| Description: The
Pickerel Frog ranges in size from 1.5-3.0 inches. Base coloration is
tan with two parallel rows of black squarish spots on the back, with other
black spots on the sides. The inside of the hind legs are colored
with a bright yellow or orange.
Habitat: Usually found near moving streams and sloughs. Also found near cave entrances. Behavior: The voice of the Pickerel Frog is a brief low-pitched snore. An irritating skin secretion seems to discourage some predators. |
