The Eastern Pondhawk is 1.5 inches long.  The range of this dragonfly is the eastern and central portion of the US.  Habitats include still waters, preferably with flat-growing emergent vegetation.  The Eastern Pondhawk is very aggressive, often attacking members of its own species.  Males engage in a unique aerial territorial display, repeatedly circling one another as they climb.
