The Eastern Dobsonfly is 2 inches in length.  Found east of the Rocky Mountains, very little is known regarding the food habits of the adults of this species.  The larvae, known widely to stream fisherman as hellgrammites, live in fast-flowing streams preying on a variety of aquatic insects.
