Colorado Potato Beetle |
Leptinotarsa decemlineata |
| The Colorado Potato Beetle is just under 1/2 inch in size. It is found throughout North America. In the past this beetle was a major pest to potato growers, but pesticides have greatly reduced the damage caused by feeding. The False Potato Beetle is very similar, and can be told by the black spot on the femur and the even rows of punctures in the elytra (wing coverings). The Colorado Potato Beetle has uneven punctures. |
