| Description: The
Black Mountain Salamander ranges in size from 3.0-6.0 inches.
Coloration is light brown with some black spotting. Belly is mottled
with gray or brown on a white base. Tail on top is knife-edged on
posterior end. Tips of toes usually colored black.
Habitat: Found in mountain streams, rills and temporary pools. Behavior: This salamander is rarely found away from water. |
